Content Summary

The SDAIA AI Centre Expansion deal has advanced from Pre-SA to SA stage. Ahmad Al-Rashid has submitted the SA package detailing the technical architecture for the AI Centre of Excellence in Riyadh, including Azure GPU compute clusters, Azure OpenAI Service integration, and a comprehensive data sovereignty framework meeting SDAIA's requirements for all AI training data to remain within Saudi borders.

The deal represents $180M in projected Azure consumption over five years, with the AI Centre serving as a national hub for government AI development, talent training, and research collaboration. The SA package is currently under review, with particular attention to the data residency architecture and competitive positioning against AWS's $8B Middle East investment.

The site visit went very well. SDAIA is satisfied with the data sovereignty controls in the Azure Saudi Arabia region. The main open question is GPU availability for large-scale model training β€” they want dedicated capacity guarantees.

Good progress, Ahmad. The GPU capacity question is common across all our AI deals. I have escalated to Azure Engineering for a dedicated capacity allocation for the Saudi region. Should have a response by end of week.
